Batsman Punit Bisht has signed for the 2019 season.

As a club we are delighted to announce the signing of CricX Indian professional Punit Bisht for the 2019 season.

Punit (32) is an accomplished first-class player who has graced the Ranji Trophy circuit for over a decade. Since his debut in 2006, the wicket-keeper batsman has played 192 matches across the three domestic formats scoring 5,154 runs with 8 centuries and 389 dismissals.

The Indian star has been on fire for new provincial side, Meghalaya this summer. He has enjoyed an outstanding start to his summer, particularly in the Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign. Bisht struck two centuries amongst 502 runs at 71.71 to finish third on the run-charts - behind Indian stars Abhinhav Mukund (560 runs) and Gautam Gambhir (518 runs). Bisht has subsequently backed up with successive fifties (66*, 58) to start his Ranji Trophy season.

When asked about the signing, Garstang Chairman Mike Walling stated: "We are delighted to have Punit on board for the 2019 season, he is an experienced cricketer with a proven first class record and is someone we look forward to adding to the club. I’m sure his experience will add real benefit to all aspects of the club both on and off the field".

We’d also like to thank members of the committee & CricX for all their hard work and assistance in making the deal possible, we are already looking forward to the 2019 season and welcoming Punit to the club.
