Punit returns!

Garstang CC are delighted to announce that CricX - The Cricket Exchange Agency Indian professional Punit Bisht has re-signed for the 2020 season. Punit has been in scintillating form to date this season scoring 1305 runs at an average of 52, including 7 x 50’s and 5 x 100’s in his debut season with a memorable 134 in the NL T20 semi-final. Not happy with scoring runs, Punit has taken 22 wickets at an average of 20 with his off-spin.

Punit said, “I am very happy to re-sign for the 2020 season, I have enjoyed my time this year in Garstang with the team and I’m looking forward to next season. This season we have won the NL T20 and still have the league and cup to play for, so hopefully we can end the season with further success.”

Punit (33) is an accomplished first-class player who has graced the Ranji Trophy circuit for over a decade. Since his debut in 2006, the wicket-keeper batsman has played 206 matches across the three domestic formats scoring 6,044 runs with 10 centuries, and an impressive top score of 343.

Chairman, Michael Walling said “We are delighted that Punit has re-signed for next season, he has undoubtedly been a success on the field, I am sure that his stats and those that have had the pleasure of watching him bat this season will vouch for that. However, it has been more pleasing to see the impact that Punit has had off the field, he has been great around the club and has a massive impact on our junior set up this season.”

We’d like to thank members of the committee & CricX for all their hard work and assistance in making the deal possible.

This weekend, sees Garstang 1 X1 continue their pursuit of the Northern League title, as they travel to Chorley on Saturday and play local rivals Fulwood & Broughton on Sunday in the Northern League cup ¼ final. The 2 X1 look to continue their recent good form against Chorley at The Riverside, and the 3 X1 travel to St Anne’s. It would be great to see as many people down support the teams in the final stages of the season.
